Eight alumni and 22 students received honors and scholarships at the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management’s Annual Awards Banquet at the Mullins Center on March 30. Ted Dalton ’98 MS, Heidi Pellerano ’98 MS, Steve Cohen ’89, and Peter John-Baptiste ’97 were honored with Harold J. VanderZwaag awards, McCormack’s de facto alumnus of the year honor.

The VanderZwaag recipients exemplified the broad footprint of McCormack graduates in the spectator sport industry. Dalton is Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Business Development with the Boston Celtics. Pellerano is Senior Vice President of Consulting Projects and Segment Marketing with the Wasserman Media Group. Cohen is General Manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones and John-Baptiste is Vice President of Communications with the Cleveland Browns.

A second honor—McCormack’s Alumni-on-the-Rise Award—went to four recipients. Zaileen Janmohamed, MBA/MS ’05 is Senior Director of Global Brand, Product, and Sponsorship Marketing with Visa Inc. Evan Levine ’07 is Vice President of Branding and Strategy with ROC Nation Sports. Takehiko Nakamura ’05 MS is General Manager of LeadOff Sports Marketing. And Michelle Price ’05 is Ticket Sales Manager with the New York Mets.

The many scholarships awarded at the event will support students in a variety of undertakings, including academics, internships, volunteerism, and community service.
