The Isenberg Consulting Academy is launching its Case Competition on Wednesday, April 17th with finals day on Saturday, April 27th, 2024!  The Management and OIM Department are sponsoring this event alongside the Second Annual Isenberg Strategy Summit.

This is an exciting chance for you to showcase your problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork abilities in a real-world business scenario – and network with representatives from consulting firms. Whether you are an experienced case enthusiast or new to the game, this is an opportunity you won't want to miss!

On Wednesday, April 17th at 7pm, we are holding the Case Competition launch session to release the case study. During this session, you will gain valuable insights into the essential tools and strategies to effectively analyze a case study. We will provide you with practical techniques and frameworks for comprehensively analyzing case studies, identifying key issues, and coming up with viable solutions.

You will be working with your peers as the consulting team. You can sign up with your friends or classmates, or if you're looking to meet new people and diversify your skills, we can assist in forming groups. Please fill out the Competitor sign-up form to indicate your interest and preferred team members.

On Monday, April 22nd at 7pm, we will host an additional workshop on presentation skills to help you prepare to deliver your analysis to the judges.

Even if you don’t want to compete you can come to finals day on Saturday, 27th April to watch the presentations, meet the judges, hear from our industry panellists, and enjoy breakfast bagels and a networking lunch. You can complete the Observer sign-up form if you think you might want to join us on the day.

The Isenberg Strategy Summit, sponsored by the Management Department, showcases the Capsim Strategy Simulation Competition and the Isenberg Undergraduate Consulting Group’s Case Competition Finals.

The Capsim Strategy Simulation Competition, hosted by the Isenberg Management Association, is open to all Isenberg students. Competitors will be familiarized with Capsim (a computer simulation of business strategy), which is used in the senior-level Capstone strategy class.

What to expect:

  • Networking with peers, faculty, and alumni
  • First-hand experience with the Capsim simulation
  • Prepares students for MGMT 494BI
  • Five rounds of the simulation over the day
  • Teams of 4-5 students. You may register as an individual and be placed into a team
  • Debriefing sessions after each of the first four rounds

The Capsim Competition

Using the simulation, students make strategic decisions for their company and compete to gain customers, keep up with production, and maximize returns. Competitors have access to the Capsim simulation prior to the event, and information sessions are held to help familiarize competitors with the simulation. The competition comprises five rounds of simulation. There are debriefing sessions after each of the first four rounds with faculty and alumni, and coaching is provided throughout the day. Awards are given to top teams based on the results of the simulation, as well as division awards based on graduation year and for current Management 494BI students.

This event is open to all Isenberg students. First- and second-year students are encouraged to apply, but all Isenberg students are welcome!
