Sean Wandrei
Senior Lecturer II
Sean Wandrei is a certified public accountant with many years of professional experience, including 17 years in public accounting before joining UMass. During his time in public accounting, he worked on complex entity-level and individual tax returns, managed projects, trained new hires, and authored articles for trade journals. At UMass, Sean developed two graduate-level taxation courses, Partnership Taxation and Tax Research, continued writing for trade journals, and was nominated for a University Distinguished Teaching Award. He also previously served as Director of the MSA program. Sean is the co-director of the Universities Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Currently, Sean is focused on staying current with new tax laws and researching the use of generative AI in public accounting and the classroom. His goal is to create tools that help students learn more effectively while developing the skills needed to use generative AI correctly, ethically, and efficiently.
