Honors Thesis expectations are high. The intended end-product is a traditional research manuscript with accompanying artifact(s), all theses: - are 6 credits or more of sustained research on a single topic, typically conducted over two semesters. - begin with creative inquiry and systematic research. - include documentation of substantive scholarly endeavor. - culminate in an oral defense or other form of public presentation.

THE STUDENT DEADLINE TO COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THEIR PART OF AN HONORS 499T APPLICATION USING CHC PATHS IS AUGUST 15. Students wishing to register for the completion of an Honors Thesis (499T) must complete a contract proposal application with their faculty chair using CHC PATHS (honors.umass.edu/chc-paths/) for online approval by their chair and other reviewers, including the Academic Standards Committee of the Faculty Senate's Commonwealth Honors College Council. The application should be done during pre-registration to ensure that the supervising faculty and other reviewers have sufficient time to submit the application to CHC by the first Thursday of the semester for final approval and registration before Add/Drop ends.

Seminar- Sports Sales Strategy

SPORTMGT

This experiential learning course provides students with the opportunity to actively participate in their personal and professional development within the context of sports sales. Through actively participating in the learning process, students will enhance their experience and understanding of the selling process specifically including: inventory development, proposal development, prospecting, sales presentations, and negotiation of sales agreements.

The use of economic analysis to analyze issues related to the sport industry. Topics include ticket pricing strategies, monopolization, players' labor markets, revenue-sharing, salary caps, competitive balance, and the subsidization of stadiums.
