As mentioned in an earlier blog post, there is a lot you can do to build your toolkit of professional skills relatively easily, quickly, and for free. Learning new skills when you have some free time (Hint: Winter break!) will help you in the short-term when looking for jobs/internships, and in the long-term when developing yourself professionally. You can be any age & any major in order to learn new skills. Here are some free ways to add to your toolkit:

Skills: Basic coding. Learning even a little bit of Java, Python, HTML, or any other programming language is a really valuable technical skill.
Site: www.Code.org and www.CodeAcademy.com

Skills: Learn the principles of Google Analytics across digital, e-commerce, and mobile.
Site: Google Analytics Academy (https://analyticsacademy.withgoogle.com/course)

Skills: Inbound Marketing — the strategy and execution behind blogging, landing pages, calls-to-action, and more. Doesn’t ring a bell? Even more reason to check out the site and learn about marketing strategy.
Site: HubSpot Academy Inbound Certification (http://academy.hubspot.com/certification)

Another great site to check out is MIT OpenCourseWare — Hundreds (if not thousands) of free courses in any subject imaginable. In business alone, there are courses in finance, OIM, real estate, marketing, health care management, globalization etc. Really cool stuff.
