“Excel Beyond Your Education” was the signature theme of Isenberg’s 43rd annual Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) Career Day on March 2. Attended by over 350 students, the daylong event in UMass Amherst’s Campus Center offered several “firsts.”

Twenty first-time corporate recruiters brought the roster of recruiting companies to sixty-eight. Representing all major sectors of the hospital industry, employers sought HTM students with varied levels of experience for summer internships, management-in-training programs, and entry-level, full-time positions.

The employer/sponsors that supported the event financially reflected the diversity of recruiters and opportunities for Isenberg HTM students:

  • Platinum Sponsors:  99 Restaurants; Not Your Average Joe’s; Ocean House Management; Pyramid Hotel Group
  • Gold Sponsors:  Accor Hotels; Highgate Hotels; Marriott International; Sleepy Hollow Country Club; Two Roads Hospitality
  • Silver Sponsors: Hillstone Restaurant Group; Island Hospitality Group; J. Alexander’s Restaurants; LRA by Deloitte; UDR Luxury Apartments
  • Bronze Sponsors:  Canyon Ranch and Gurney’s Montauk Resort and Seawater Spa

A notable first-time innovation was the Rapid Recruiting initiative on Career Day eve. During that event, 74 students attended high-speed rotational information sessions with fourteen companies. The wealth of information and interaction with employers helped the students make the most of the next day’s Career Day events.
