The McCormack Department is proud to name Scott Crowder (BS ’09), Brenna Dykta (MBA/MS ’10), Danielle Lopez (MS ’12), and Adam Nurik (BS ’10), as recipients of its 2019 Alumni on the Rise Award. Launched in 2013, the McCormack Department of Sport Management Alumni on the Rise Award recognizes alumni who have graduated within the past 5 to 10 years and have demonstrated exceptional achievement within the sport industry while giving back to the McCormack Department of Sport Management at Isenberg through their time and resources.

The 2019 McCormack Annual Awards Banquet will take place on Monday, April 1st at 5:30 p.m. in the Marriott Center, the 11th floor of the UMass Campus Center.

Scott Crowder - BS 2009

Scott Crowder created the largest pond hockey tournament series in North America—the Pond Hockey Classic— attracting national attention and positively impacting the economies of the host communities. Scott and his wife, Chelsea Crowder (a fellow UMass sport management alum), opened the EKAL Activity Center on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire in 2012. The center specializes in selling the lake lifestyle and the activities that go along with it, renting canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle boards and offering charters and boat rides. Scott is also the executive director of Restore Sports Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to recycling and repurposing used sports equipment.

Brenna Dykta - MBA/MS 2010

Brenna currently works at Endeavor Global Marketing, overseeing Michelob ULTRA’s sports marketing portfolio, including sponsorships with the PGA Tour, pro golfer Brooks Koepka, the TCS New York City Marathon, and the World Surf League. She brings Michelob ULTRA’s brand to life through experiential activation and proprietary events such as ULTRA Fit Fest, a first-of-its-kind destination fitness retreat. She began her career at Team Epic before transitioning to The Strategic Agency, where she managed New York Life’s sponsorship strategy and activation and developed a groundbreaking NHL sponsorship for Constellation Energy. Brenna holds a BA from Allegheny College and loves travel, yoga, writing, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Danielle Lopez - MS 2012

Danielle Lopez is a senior consultant at the United States Olympic Committee, where she and her team provide a broad set of analytical, business planning, and strategic services. During her four-year tenure at the USOC, Danielle has had the honor and privilege to serve as a member of the “Team Behind the Team,” running operations and logistical functions at Pan American, Youth Olympic, Summer Olympic, and Winter Olympic Games. Danielle received her B.S. in biopsychology and biomedical engineering from Tufts University in 2009, and she’s currently pursuing an Executive Masters in Olympic Organization Management through Olympic Solidarity. She is also a former player for the Canadian Olympic Softball program.

Adam Nurik BS - 2010

Adam Nurik is senior director of corporate consulting at Genesco Sports Enterprises (GSE), a strategic sports marketing consulting and activation agency with offices in Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Seattle. Adam has been with GSE since August 2013 and currently oversees Pepsi's MLB, NFL, and NHL league, team, and player partnerships. In this role, Adam coordinates Pepsi's overall activation plans on both the local and national level and develops sales and marketing solutions through the optimization of their investments. Prior to joining GSE, Adam worked at Team Epic (currently MKTG) in its corporate hospitality and events department.
