Nefertiti Walker, Isenberg’s associate dean for an inclusive organization and a professor of sport management, has received a prestigious Research Fellow Award from the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM). Dr. Walker was honored at NASSM’s annual conference on June 5 in New Orleans.

NASSM Research Fellows must achieve exceptional scholarly activity, including 15 published articles in refereed journals—3 of them within the last six years. They must also have made 20 refereed presentations, 4 of them within the last six years. Dr. Walker’s research interests include women in leadership and developing diverse, inclusive cultures in sport organizations. She serves on UMass Amherst’s Athletic Council and works closely with UMass Athletics. Internationally, she is co-chair of NASSM’s Diversity Committee and serves on espnW’s College Advisory Panel. She is also a member of the LGBT Sports Foundation.

Walker was also named UMass Amherst's interim associate chancellor for diversity, equity, and inclusion in June by Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy.
