After 17 years of exceptional leadership of the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management, Professor Lisa Masteralexis has been appointed as Associate Dean for Administration in the Isenberg School of Management. Under Professor Masteralexis’ leadership, the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management experienced many positive transformations. The department successfully moved into the Isenberg School of Management and established many new synergetic relationships that have enhanced the sport management degree.

Professor Masterlexis’s extraordinary vision was instrumental in securing the Mark H. McCormack archives and naming rights in 2010, a relationship that has continued to expand since its inception. Today, the department boasts over 6000 alumni, many of whom Professor Masteralexis has personally affected. The department will miss her tireless dedication to the program, incredible vision and leadership, and overall collegial mentorship. We know that she will serve Isenberg well in her new capacity.

With this exciting new career opportunity for Professor Masteralexis comes an opportunity for new leadership for our sport management program. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Janet Fink will be serving as our new Department Chair. Dr. Fink, who joined our faculty in 2012, has over the past 20 years distinguished herself as an accomplished scholar and educator in the sport management industry.

Given our commitment to maintaining our strong ties to our extensive and supportive alumni base, as well as our many industry connections, Professor Steve McKelvey will team with Dr. Fink in the role of Associate Department Chair for External Relations.

Together, Dr. Fink and Professor McKelvey look forward to enhancing the program’s strong legacy – a legacy to which Professor Masteralexis has so significantly contributed.
