Isenberg is continuing on its path of innovation to help students and professionals reach their academic and career goals with the launch of a new certificate program and a new dual MBA/Master of Science in Business Analytics degree.

Graduate Certificate in Foundations of Management

Every organization needs managers who understand the fundamentals of business. Our Graduate Certificate in Foundations of Management is designed to deliver those fundamentals in the core areas of accounting, finance, marketing, and leadership. The certificate is versatile, educating working professionals who wish to manage more effectively, and educating graduate students in other disciplines who wish to complement their studies in the sciences or liberal arts with a strong foundation in business.

“This certificate is ideal for anyone considering graduate education who does not have a formal background or training in business,” says Traci Hess, associate dean of graduate programs at Isenberg. “Individuals from all backgrounds can gain competencies in several areas of business and immediately apply this practical knowledge to their work and advance their career.”

The certificate comprises 13 credits and four courses, all of which can be taken completely online, including financial and managerial accounting, fundamental principles of financial management, marketing strategy, and leadership and organizational behavior.

Students can complete the certificate and then transition into an Isenberg graduate business degree. All four courses in the certificate can transfer to the Online MBA or the MS in Business Analytics programs, upon acceptance into those programs.

MBA/MS in Business Analytics

Isenberg’s On-Campus MBA program now offers a new MBA/MS dual degree option: the MBA with an MS in Business Analytics (MBA/MSBA), which launches in Fall 2022. With this degree, students will become strong, competent business leaders who have expertise in the many application areas of business analytics and can guide their organizations with informed data-driven business decisions.

According to Hess, “Every organization needs to apply analytics to better understand their customers, markets, and competition, and every manager needs to be well-informed and competent in applying analytics. In today’s organizations, managers need the analytical skills and critical thinking to improve business processes and deliver insights in an increasingly data-driven world.”

“The MBA/MS dual degree program will give you a hands-on, real-world education, readying you to become a business leader with strong analytical skills,” says Hess. The immersive residential program builds a close-knit community and provides individualized career support, enabling students to strategize and lead in a data-centric world.

Isenberg analytics classroom

Students complete their first year as part of the on-campus MBA cohort. During that year, students participate in the core MBA curriculum designed to provide a rigorous foundation in a wide range of business topics and skills. Classes cover all the bases, from Operations and Statistics to Marketing Strategy, Human Resources and Corporate Finance. The practicum experience offered in the spring semester of that first year provides an immersive, consulting experience working with a real company.

During their second year, students are immersed in the graduate business analytics curriculum, learning and applying data manipulation, visualization, and modeling skills. Coursework in Business Intelligence, Data Management, Data Mining, Data Science and Application Development with Python will prepare students to navigate the pervasive analytics landscape. As students complete their analytics courses, they join the MBA cohort for culminating courses in Organization Strategy and Leadership.

The MBA/MSBA dual degree is also STEM-designated, enabling international students to extend their time in the U.S. and gain practical work experience through internships and full-time positions. Through a highly sought-after combination of MBA plus analytics expertise, these graduate students are poised to launch their careers as thoughtful, strategic business leaders. And Isenberg’s Office of Career Success provides students with the professional development they need to secure their career path.
