I am working remotely as the Media Relations Intern for the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). I take care of their social media, mostly twitter, but also Instagram and Facebook. I tweet/retweet about games, scores, players, and other things happening around the league. In addition to this, I do some side projects such as updating records/information, writing a short piece about a team, and helping my boss select the "Players of the Week." I also attended the All-Star Game to cover the game on social media and to take pictures and videos to be possibly used for the game recap.
HOW DID YOU FIND THIS OPPORTUNITY?
I found this opportunity when Dr. Lachowetz forwarded an email from the league to his students.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR EXPERIENCE AND WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED?
My experience has been very positive and I have learned a lot about how to interact with fans through social media platforms.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER STUDENTS?
My advice for other students is to not be shy. Don't think that just because you are a freshman and/or have little to no experience that you have no shot. Everyone has to start somewhere, so don't be afraid to reach out to people, as they will most likely be very happy to talk to you.
