Isenberg’s student chapter of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality has earned Chapter of the Year honors from its national parent organization. The Isenberg group was honored at the society’s 26th annual national conference and career fair in Pittsburgh on February 12th -15th. The award recognizes the chapter which has excelled in its commitment to the society’s mission and vision. That includes completing multiple community service projects and creating professional development workshops for its members.

The chapter’s faculty advisor, HTM lecturer Will Foley, received Advisor of the Year honors at the event. Three members of the Isenberg chapter—Vimbai Moyo ’16, Emily Donaldson ’16, and John Conlin ’15—were elected to terms as national board members. And two Isenberg HTM students redceived scholarships—Kimberly Wong ’15, from Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and John Conlin ’15, from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

The three-day conference attracted over 600 students from 80 chapters across the nation. The nineteen students from Isenberg attended panel discussions and workshops that explored career development and trends in the hospitality industry. They also networked with hundreds of students and employers at the conference’s large career fair.

Isenberg’s NSMH student chapter celebrates human and experiential diversity in all aspects of the hospitality industry, including hotels, restaurants, casinos, and country clubs. For its members, it is a resource for career development, community service, and the exploration of industry trends. More on Isenberg's NSMH chapter
