WELCOME Isenberg Freshmen Class of 2018! By now, I hope you have gotten used to your classes, found your way around campus, and have enjoyed meeting all of the amazing people here at UMass and in Isenberg. When I was a Freshman, everything seemed so intense. From some of the upperclassmen already having jobs for after they graduate to all of the clubs and organizations I could join, I was very overwhelmed at the beginning to say the least. So, below are a few tips to help you get even more settled than you already are:
- Smile, say hello, and be friendly to everyone you meet here! Isenberg is one big network that has wonderful faculty, students, and alumni who want to help you be successful during your time here.
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Whether it’s a question about major requirements, which Gen-Eds classes are great to take, or how to get to a classroom, anyone would love to help you out.
- Utilize your transitions classes! Our post from last week gives tips on how you can get the most out of your time during this class and come out knowing a lot that will help you both in Isenberg and in your future.
- Don’t stress! Things can seem pretty overwhelming during the huge transition of moving from high school to college. Just remember, your friends are all feeling the same as you are, and your professors know that it’s not easy for everyone. Just stay calm, and take your tasks one day at a time.
- Enjoy your time here! This is an amazing school with amazing people and an amazing opportunity to get a great education. There are clubs, activities, and people who you can meet as well as a ton of fun things to do in the surrounding towns.
Isenberg is a great, UMass is great, and YOU are great! Enjoy, and welcome Class of 2018!
