“As a student, I received a great professional start in Isenberg’s accounting program,” recalls Shelley Duncan ’92, a partner for over ten years in Deloitte’s Technology Media & Telecommunications practice. “Isenberg’s culture was inclusive, like a family. Professors like Asebrook and Simpson cared deeply about students becoming successful. Over the years, I’ve often returned to Isenberg to recruit because the program has some of the best students in the market.”

Shelley works with large multinational clients in the technology and consumer products industries and is a member of Deloitte’s International Financial Reporting Standards team. She is a national specialist in software revenue recognition and leads the software sector in Deloitte’s New England Technology practice. She also works with Deloitte’s national office to ensure that the firm’s auditors maintain independence in their relations with their clients. She also has significant experience with complex equity instruments, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings.

Shelley joined Deloitte after graduating from Isenberg in 1992 and completing an internship with the firm. In 1995, she began three years as a staff accountant with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission in Washington. After that, she spent a year as the Director of Finance at a venture-backed Internet start-up company before rejoining Deloitte in 1999.

“I’m proud to work in a profession known for its flexibility toward women with families—a profession that offers women and men the same opportunities,” emphasizes Shelley, who lives in Medfield with her husband and their six children.
