- Do not declare the certificate before taking the courses. It’s not required.
- You must complete 5 certificate courses totaling at least 15 graded credits in accordance with the Certificate Curriculum plan.
- At least 4 of the 5 courses (12 credits) must be taken at UMass Amherst (University, UNIV+ or UnivOnline) courses.
- AP, IB, and CLEP credits do not count toward the certificate.
- You must earn a 2.0 GPA or better in certificate courses, only one class may be below a C.
- Practicum courses ending in 98 or independent studies ending in 96 will not count toward the certificate.
- Certificate courses may not be taken pass/fail.
- Only two courses may count toward multiple credentials (your major, a minor, or a certificate. More info: https://www.umass.edu/registrar/sites/default/files/UsingCoursesMultipleCredentials.pdf
- You can earn only one of the following credentials: Business Analytics Certificate, Artificial Intelligence in Business Certificate or IT Minor.
- Certificates do not appear on your UMass diploma, upon completing the certificate in your last semester, it will be annotated on your final UMass transcript. The UMass Registrar will mail the Certificate to you.

How to Declare:
- After enrolling in your final semester classes, submit the Declaration of Certificate form.
- All grades must be posted on your unofficial SPIRE transcript (except current final semester courses) before submitting.
- Declare before graduating. The certificate will post to your unofficial transcript after all course grades are submitted.
