There are several reasons why someone would decide to create a LinkedIn profile. For many, creating a profile is a chance to improve one’s personal brand and get one’s name, experience, and skills out on the Internet. This enables users to be easily found by common connections, alumni, and recruiters.
What is the best way to stand out to recruiters on LinkedIn?
- Optimize your LinkedIn profile: Completely fill in the sections that are available to you by listing past experiences and employers
- Be active in LinkedIn Groups: This is a great way to market yourself, network, and show that you know your stuff. Recruiters might even be involved in the same groups and may pick up on some of your posts
- Ask for, and get recommendations: Past employers at jobs and/or internships you’ve had can add value to your LinkedIn profile by recommending you for the job you completed. Make sure to utilize this great feature!
- Add skills, and grab endorsements: Update your skill set section regularly, and ask for some endorsements from your connections. This shows that you have people to back you up on what you say you can do
