I am a sales intern for the OnDemand team at Kronos Incorporated. It is a help desk, and people send in requests either to have questions answered or for one of the Pre-Sales representatives to assist them with giving their customer more information. I take these requests and file and assign them to team members to ensure no question gets left unanswered.
HOW DID YOU FIND THIS OPPORTUNITY?
I originally interviewed for this same position over the summer, but Kronos decided to go with an older and more experienced candidate. They called me at the beginning of the semester because the intern that they had selected over the summer did not meet their requirements, and they had to release him. I had a relatively light semester so I decided to accept their offer and now work about 30 hours a week from home.
WHAT HAS THE EXPERIENCE BEEN LIKE AND WHAT ARE YOU LEARNING?
The experience has been amazing. I have a boss, and a supervisor whom I speak with every day. I ask a million questions and I am learning a lot about being held accountable for deadlines as well as functioning in a professional environment.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER STUDENTS?
I would tell future interns not to get discouraged if you do not get the internship that you wanted. I would also recommend still sending thank you notes and staying on good terms with the company because you never know what will happen in the future. They kept me in the back of their minds for about 5 months, and then I got an awesome opportunity. Don’t be so quick to feel defeated.
