In a recent webinar, Developing Inclusive Cultures in the Workplace, hosted by Ivy Exec, Dr. Nefertiti A. Walker from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst explores the current sociopolitical climate that impacts organizational culture, organizational exclusion, and the key aspects of building an inclusive culture. Through the framework of intersectionality, organizations can learn to see people wholly—taking into account all their identities. This approach not only benefits employee collaboration and retention, but also provides the organization with business performance advantages.
To that end, Dr. Walker provides recommendations for organizations to make a cultural shift based on Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model through the lens of intersectionality and inclusion.
About the Presenter: Dr. Walker serves as Chancellor for the Office of Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is also an Associate Professor in the McCormark Department of Sport Management at the Isenberg School of Management.
