On November 14th, 115 alumni, faculty, students, and industry leaders, gathered in the elegant Sofitel Hotel in Manhattan for the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM)’s annual New York City Reception. The attendees heard remarks from Balendra Nagesvaran, who is AccorHotels’ Vice President of Operations for its North and Central American holdings; Steve Sasso, General Manager at Paramount Hotel NYC; new HTM Chair Muzzo Uysal, and young alumnus Daniel Harpaz a Public Relations and Marketing Manager at Sofitel.

The evening’s principal honoree was Lisa Mayer ’10, recipient of this year’s NYC Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna Award. A manager with the Madison Square Garden Company, Lisa plans and coordinates corporate events. Her relationship with MSG began in 2009 when, as an HTM student, she interned in the company’s corporate events department.

The annual event in Manhattan, which attracted key members of the HTM Advisory Board, was above all a fantastic networking opportunity for the HTM community, including a number of outstanding students.

A special thank you to presenting sponsor Sofitel New York, the NYC Host Committee, and the many corporate sponsors that made the event possible.
