Graduation Resources for Graduate Students

Your Degree Eligibility Form is your application to graduate. Use the form to say when you expect to graduate, to specify courses you want to use toward your degree, and to verify details about your record.

You are required to submit a Degree Eligibility Form through Spire by the deadline included in your most recent enrollment reminder emails. This date varies depending on which semester you are graduating.

Note: Students in Dual Masters programs must submit a separate degree eligibility form for each program. If this applies to you, expect to see a page that asks you to select the program or degree when you navigate to the Graduate Degree Eligibility page.

Ensure you do not have any holds on your account. Holds will prevent you from graduating or your degree will not be conferred on time. 

Instructions

• In SPIRE, go to Academics > Graduation > Graduate Degree Eligibility
• Verify your diploma name and address. Update if desired.
• Select your expected graduation term.
  1. You will always have two terms to choose from, the current term and the next term.
• Select all courses needed for your degree. See About Selecting Courses for important details. If you were exempt from Foundations, you do NOT need to list them (this does not apply to all programs). Check off only classes that were taken towards the program.
• Select Yes to verify that information is correct and complete before clicking Submit to Grad Program Director.

You will be unable to make any changes after submitting the form unless your program or the Graduate School returns it to you. You would receive email notification if someone were to return the form.

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions from students who have just completed their degree: 

• Official Transcripts will not be available right after you complete your coursework. You will know that your transcript is finalized when you see “Degree Conferred” at the end of your transcript. If you completed a focus, you will see it with the Degree Conferred. 


• Your confer date will be posted to your transcript in the weeks following your semester's confer date. Confer dates for each semester are February for fall and winter graduates, May for spring graduates, and September for summer graduates.  


• Diplomas will be mailed two to three months after your degree has been conferred, to the Diploma Address listed on SPIRE at the time of mailing. 


• Your UMass email is viable up to six months after graduation. 


• You will always have access to your SPIRE account. You’ll be able to request your official transcripts online and/or change your contact information. Do make sure your address is updated so the current year's W2’s will reach you.

Isenberg Graduate Programs Celebration

The following semester graduates are welcome to join us at the 2026 Isenberg Graduate Programs celebration for students in the MBA, MS in Accounting, MS in Business Analytics, Master of Finance, and MS Sport Management programs:

• Summer 2025

We are excited to celebrate with our recent graduates! Join us immediately following the Master's Commencement Ceremony for a delicious brunch spread with refreshing beverages while you mingle with your peers, faculty, and staff. Graduates and four guests will be free of charge and we kindly request business attire. We look forward to seeing you! 

Deadlines and Important Notes for graduates:

• Tassel Registration – all graduates must login to Tassel and register for your ceremony. An email will be sent to you once you have submitted your degree eligibility form and it has been approved.  
  • Final day to register in Tassel is April 18.
  • In Tassel, you will also indicate the number of guest tickets you need (the limit is 4)
  • You will also confirm the correct pronunciation of your name to be read aloud as you cross the stage.
• Regalia – All orders for regalia will be done through Herff Jones. Please visit https://herff.ly/umass.
  • Please visit the university commencement site and follow the Master's Regalia Ordering Instructions listed under Caps & Gowns.
  • If you need your regalia shipped to you complete the steps to order the regalia and select “ship regalia to home”. The deadline is April 17.
  • Do not delay ordering regalia.
