Ethan Morren ’25 is a sport management and operations and information management dual degree student in Isenberg. The junior hails from West Hartford, Connecticut and is also pursuing a certificate in data analytics.
What made you choose Isenberg and UMass?
The opportunity to build my own path in business, the number of student organizations to get involved and gain experience, and the network of the McCormack Department of Sport Management all piqued my interest in Isenberg and UMass.
How did you choose your majors in sport management and operations and information management? Why did you decide to pick these over other programs?
I picked sport management because of my interest and passion for sports. I knew that my future in business would be in sport, but as I progressed through the first two years of my curriculum, I began to realize that I enjoy the analytical side of sport as well, thus leading me to add operations and information management as a second major, while also pursuing a certificate in data analytics.
What have been your favorite classes and experiences at Isenberg so far?
Sport Law, Sport Analytics, the McCormack Sport Analytics GM Challenge, and Quality Management have all been great classes and experiences I wouldn’t have been able to take part in had I not been an Isenberg student!
What clubs and extracurriculars do you participate in?
I am a senior analyst in the Isenberg Insurance Academy and on the executive board of the McCormack Sport Analytics Club.
Have you had any jobs or internships during college?
I have worked the past two summers doing sales and fitness consulting at a gym. On campus, I am an intern for the UMass Athletics department of communications.
What are you planning after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on seeking a job in sport, ideally hockey. However, I am also interested in either graduate school or law school and may opt to go back to school after working for a few years.
If you could go back and give your first-year self some advice, what would you tell them?
I would tell myself to get involved as early as possible. The resources are there for us as students to use and grow professionally from, and the earlier you can take advantage of opportunities, the better off you will be later on in your college career.
