Reasons you’ve used to justify not having been to the Chase Career Center yet:

1) “It’s only October 2nd”
2) “My resume is bad”
3) “I’ve never been there before”

Fair enough. But I challenge you to visit the Chase Career Center regardless. Here’s why:

1) It’s “only” October 2nd

This is a pro, not a con! Get a head start on your job and internship search before Chase fills up in January/February with masses of students looking for advice about internships and jobs. Right now is the perfect time to set up an appointment with an advisor before it gets too busy.

2) Your resume isn’t up to snuff yet

That’s okay! Nobody has a perfect resume right out of the gate. The best way to find out where you stand is to see someone with the experience to be able to tell you (hint: Kim, Trish, and Marc all qualify as that “someone”). Freshmen to seniors come in all year long with resumes/cover letters that are in the very beginning writing stages all the way to final nit-picky edits. Don’t use the status of your resume as an excuse for not going to Chase. Set up an appointment and see what you can do now.

3) On that note, the earlier you go…

…the more you will thank yourself later. There are plenty of juniors and seniors that have never made an appointment and are just starting to edit their resumes as they look for job/internship opportunities. If you are proactive and seek out Chase advisors in the fall as a freshman or sophomore, you will be prepared when the time comes to apply for positions or send someone your resume.

*Added bonus — because not all freshmen decide to take advantage of the Chase Career Center as a resource, you will stand out to the advisors if you do (especially if you go in the fall). Stepping outside of your comfort zone will really pay off.
