Isenberg Freshmen Explore Global Business

April 4, 2012

Isenberg Residential Academic Program

On March 30th, forty-eight Isenberg freshmen visited Genzyme, Hologic, and Charles River Laboratories-all in eastern Massachusetts-to learn about their global business initiatives and to explore career avenues in international business. The students were International Business Fellows in Isenberg's Residential Academic Program, where freshman share the same dorm floor, take the same courses, and participate in focused activities-either in international business or, for a second group of fellows, in business & society issues.

At the companies, students met with senior managers and UMass Amherst graduates, who described their career paths and offered industry-savvy career advice. The students also toured labs, discussed R&D strategies, and gained insights into the intersection of science and international business. Accompanying the students were faculty mentors Holly Lawrence and Gail Cruise, Director and Senior Lecturer with Isenberg's Business Communications Program; and Kim Figueroa, Isenberg's Chase Career Center Director of Internships.
