In a field of 1150 teams, Isenberg undergraduate Kyle Pandiscio ’19 (Marketing) and Julia Keefe ’17 (BDIC) won first-place honors in the billboard display category in Project Yellow Light, a national advertising competition that promotes safe driving practices.
“There is renewed energy in Isenberg’s PhD program,” exults its director, George Milne. In 2017, the program, he notes, generated 18 graduates, the highest number in its history. (Milne cites records dating from 1984.) “The students,” he continues, “are engaging in research earlier in their careers and continue to refine their teaching skills both in live and online classes. That reflects our commitment to continuously improve teaching and research.”
On May 25, three UMass Amherst-based startups—all recipients of advice and technical assistance from Isenberg School of Management MBA Fellows working through the Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship—were among 12 monetary award recipients/graduates of the Valley Venture Mentors (VVM) Accelerator program in Springfield.

The class of 2017 is breaking philanthropy records in the Senior Gift Challenge, giving at a rate that far exceeded their goal. Isenberg is successfully tapping seniors to think about giving back while they're still on campus, increasing young alumni donations and engagement.

In late April, a team of Isenberg undergraduates excelled in the International Business Ethics Case Competition (IBECC) in Santa Monica, placing first for their 10-minute presentation, second for their 90-minute presentation, and second in the “Ethics Biathlon,” which combined a four mile run with the ethics portion of the competition.

A team of four Isenberg sophomores emerged as first-place winners in Kohl’s Invitational Case Competition. The Isenberg team—The Kohl Kids—won the contest’s $5,000 grand prize, prevailing over 222 teams in the national competition.
The Hospitality & Tourism Management department held their annual awards dinner on April 14 at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston. The dinner honors alumni and leaders in the hotel, restaurant, tourism, and hospitality industry.
