For the second year running, Isenberg’s Online MBA has achieved elite status among the nation’s online MBA programs. According to U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Online MBA Programs,” the Isenberg Online MBA once again ranked 12th in a field of 221 programs.

It was after 2:00 in the morning in a conference room in downtown Boston, a few months before the NFL season was set to kick off. Ed Shirley ‘78 was holed up in a conference room with Jonathan Kraft, son of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and two teams of intractable lawyers.
Dean Mark A. Fuller recently sat down with BusinessWest editor George O’Brien for a discussion about Isenberg’s dramatically improved national reputation and our aspirations to elevate it further. In the interview—the magazine’s current cover feature—he outlined the strategic and tactical elements that we will continue to deploy in growing Isenberg’s reputational capital. He also underscored the importance of measurable execution in that pursuit.
“What are the true opportunities for cross-pollination in a world sports community? What skills and network will you need?” asked sports agent/marketing innovator J.B. Bernstein ’91 in Professor Todd Crosset’s graduate course, Social Historical Foundations of Sport. The UMass grad is best known for creating The Million Dollar Arm contest in India, which generated the first two athletes from India to sign professional sports contracts in North America.
Four high-ranking executives shared career insights and advice at the UMass Club in Boston with Isenberg's entering first-year MBA class. The executive panel was part of the David C. O'Leary MBA Leadership Orientation, which immerses students in workshops and team exercises devoted to professional development skills.

On September 16, Isenberg alumni, students, faculty, and staff celebrated ground breaking for the school’s $62 million Business Innovation Hub. When the Business Innovation Hub does open in January of 2019, the futuristic building complex will add 70,000 square-feet of classrooms, labs, and student-focused spaces.
During the spring semester, Operations Management professor Alan Robinson took a group of MBA students on a trip to learn about the operations at two large and very different companies - endoscope manufacturer Karl Storz and wholesaler/distributing company C & S Wholesale Grocers.

“No matter where we go, no matter what we do, we carry the Isenberg brand with us,” Senior Class Speaker Stephanie Berenson ’16 told an audience of over 4000—graduating seniors, their families, and Isenberg faculty and staff—at Isenberg’s Senior Celebration at the Mullins Center on May 7. “We are part of each other. We are each other’s network, and one day, as graduates, we will be a resource for Isenberg students just as alumni have been for us,” emphasized the dual marketing/journalism major.

After two seasons with the Minutemen, Frohnapfel led the program to six wins while throwing for 6,264 passing yards and 39 touchdowns. Along with his rigorous schedule for football, Frohnapfel also maintained a 3.67 cumulative GPA in the UMass Isenberg School of Management's Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management master's program.

The third annual Women of Isenberg Conference took place on February 28th in the UMass Amherst Campus Center. Put on by student organization Isenberg Women in Business, the event attracted 310 attendees and offered a full day of speakers, panel discussions, and networking
Four Isenberg finance professors who recently attended a showing of “The Big Short” applauded the movie for its accurate portrayal of the run-up to the 2008 financial crisis and for its clear explanation of complex financial concepts. In a discussion following the movie, several of the professors expressed approval for regulations that focus on interrelationships among different segments of the financial system.

The campus-wide Innovation Challenge business plan competition's new seed pitch component is propelling student teams, through mentoring, workshops, and targeted financial seeding. “We introduced the new phase to elevate and accelerate the larger event’s already high level of competition," notes Isenberg professor William Wooldridge, executive director of Isenberg's Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship, which coordinates the Challenge.
