“Leadership is a state of mind. Take responsibility—you don’t need a title,” urged keynote speaker Karyn Schoenbart ’78 at Isenberg’s annual student-run Women of Isenberg Conference, on February 25. The UMass alumna is President and Chief Operating Officer of The NPD Group, a top 25 marketing research company, based in Port Washington, New York. “[After graduation] you’ll be the youngest person in the room,” she told Isenberg students in the well-attended gathering of 350. “Age doesn’t matter. Get over it.”

The Spring 2017 Boston Isenberg Alumni Night brought out over 170 alums, faculty and friends of Isenberg to the Top of the Hub—our highest attendance for an alumni night yet. Dean Fuller spoke about the new Business Innovation Hub, and alums also heard from Finance Professor Robert Feingold and MBA Associate Dean John Wells on recent news in both departments.
Isenberg Citizens First, Dean Fuller, and Dean Shea, along with other Isenberg faculty and staff members, raised almost $4000 to support Safe Passage, who provide services for victims of domestic abuse.
On November 14th, 115 alumni, faculty, students, and industry leaders, gathered in the elegant Sofitel Hotel in Manhattan for the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM)’s annual New York City Reception.
Risk management and other analytical strategies in the finance profession’s tool kit can make a positive difference in the battle against climate change. That was one of many insights at the Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets’ (CISDM) Annual Research Conference on October 28. During the daylong event, four featured speakers explored the event’s signature theme, “Investment Strategies, Market Liquidity, and Climate Change”, featuring keynote speaker Robert Litterman.
The annual Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management Career Fair, created and managed by The Association of Diversity in Sport (ADS) student club, drew a record number of attendees to the Campus Center Auditorium on Wednesday Nov 9. The event, presented by Comcast Spectacor, drew over 35 sport organizations, provided a platform for students and recruiters alike to connect and build professional relationships for future employment. The event also included a very successful case study competition.
