Two days of Isenberg graduation events celebrated the achievements and grit of 1,230 graduating seniors, master’s, and Ph.D. recipients. Addresses by keynote speakers recounted students’ accomplishments at Isenberg and looked ahead to their promising careers and continued engagement with the school.

Scores of Isenberg students were honored with substantial scholarship assistance at the annual Isenberg Scholarship Celebration, on April 21. The principal speakers—Vinnie Daboul ’87 and Marty Boyle ’15—praised Isenberg as an engine of opportunity and upward mobility. They urged alumni and students to support the school financially and through personal engagement.
Student-driven ideas will be the focus at HackUMass at UMass Amherst’s Integrative Learning Center on April 11-12. More than 600 participants, including 70 companies and students from across the region, will take part in the event, which is the Pioneer Valley’s largest hackathon and is hosted by the Isenberg-based Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship.
The second annual Women of Isenberg Conference took place on February 7. Coordinated by the student group Isenberg Women in Business, the day-long event attracted 210 members of the Isenberg community, including 42 alumnae, a dozen Isenberg faculty and staff members, and 150 students.
Reflecting on his four decades at Isenberg, Professor Schewe recalls former students and alumni and explains his long-standing emphasis on experiential learning. He comments on marketing's transformation and his role as cofounder of the discipline, marketing to generational cohorts.

On December 4, the campus welcomed the family of the late Gene Isenberg '50, '00H, including his wife Ronnie, their daughter Diane and husband David and their three children Dylan, Carolyn, and Stefan. A tribute was held to honor Gene and Ronnie's leadership and generosity at UMass Amherst and Isenberg.

Reinventing IBM. Now over 100 years old, IBM continues to reinvent itself by embracing change. "How do you stay relevant?" asked Hanny. "It takes really tough decisions. You have to get rid of things." At the same time, IBM has broadened its skills base through acquisitions and alliances. One thing though has remained constant at the firm: "Everyone is focused on customer success. We have a real culture here."

UMAdLab, a student-run advertising agency and extension of Isenberg's Marketing Club, is vying against teams from 19 other schools in the Credit Karma Campus Challenge. The national competition, sponsored by the credit-management education firm, Credit Karma, and hosted by EdVenture Partners, challenges teams to develop a multimedia marketing campaign to help consumers manage their credit ratings using free tools on Credit Karma's website.

Developed by Isenberg's Director of Internships Kim Figueroa and her colleagues at the school's Chase Career Center, the course "Career and Professional Development," is equipping students with a roadmap for professional development success, giving them a competitive edge in job interviewing, networking, and skills for researching employers and industries.
UMass Amherst Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Katherine Newman was a guest speaker in our Fundamentals of Marketing class. She spoke about how university leaders need to think about marketing because they are in a competitive landscape to attract the best and brightest students.
In September, Cynthia Barstow, Isenberg marketing lecturer and founder of the campus group Protect Our Breasts, took a group of PoB students to the Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore where she spoke to retailers about the dangers of chemicals in our every day products.
Three Isenberg marketing professors-Easwar Iyer, George Milne, and Elizabeth Miller-excelled as co-chairs of the American Marketing Association's annual Marketing and Public Policy Conference in Boston on June 5-7. The Conference, at the Omni Parker House, attracted over 200 participants, including attendees from academe, industry, and the policy world.
"I speak for the three of us on my student team when I say that this project was by far the most challenging and most rewarding experience of our undergraduate careers," emphasized Isenberg senior Nicholas Munro. The Isenberg marketing major was reflecting on Professor Charles Schewe's honors course, Tools for Professional Success in Marketing, which assigns student consulting teams to strategic marketing challenges on behalf of corporate clients.
At the Greater Boston Chamber of Congress, I worked with the communications and marketing team every day as the Social Media and Communications Intern. I helped provide insights and innovation by analyzing social media analytics.
