International Student Success Series: Intercultural Communication Workshop
1:15pm - 2:30pm EST Isenberg Room 128
This workshop will explore the dynamics of intercultural communication. Through discussion and activities, it will prepare you for overcoming communication barriers due to cultural differences and help you become more confident speakers of English as an additional language.
Presented by Andrea Dallas (Director) and Pamela Shea (Faculty), ESL Program. FREE PIZZA will be provided
This event will be held from 10AM-2PM March 23rd, 2018 in ISOM room 128. Your fee will include admission to the event, access to all necessary materials, and lunch at the event.
The content of this workshop is derived from the beginning of Professor Ian Walsh's popular Management 330 Organizational Behavior class and will be taught by students who have not only taken the class but have become involved as Professor Walsh's TA's, or pursued further education on these topics through independent study's.
The workshop itself will be comprised of interactive activities and lecture based material which will walk us through three main topics; our values, personality, and strengths. The exploration of these topics will help you become better prepared to seek jobs that align with your skills and to better articulate who you are to potential employers in an interview setting.
There are three necessary pre-work tasks: 1. Write a one page autobiography: this can be handwritten, a timeline, bullet points or anything you want as long as it is one page and outlines your life. 2. Complete the HEXACO: the HEXACO is a personality survey and you will be provided with the link to take the survery prior to the event. Please be sure to answer the questions based on your gut feeling and not how you want yourself to be. Make sure to bring your results with you to the workshop. If you have any questions please contact us, we look forward to working with you! Contact: Melissa Eng, email@example.com
