Speaker to Explore Equitable Employment in the Global Economy

Dan ViedermanDan ViedermanOn November 18, social entrepreneur Dan Viederman will visit Isenberg to discuss his organization's initiatives to foster more equitable employment in the global economy. Recently named Social Entrepreneur of the Year by Geneva's Schwab Foundation, Viederman is CEO of Verité, an Amherst-based nonprofit that fosters equitable, sustainable working environments. Viederman considers globalization a fact of business life; his organization works to improve worker equity and safety through direct audits, worker training, and partnerships with corporations and civic organizations.

 

Viederman will speak in Isenberg Room 210 at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be served at 10:30. The talk is sponsored by UMass Amherst's chapter of INFORMS, which encourages interest in operations research and the management sciences, including their use in addressing challenges for business and society. Members of the chapter are undergraduate and graduate students from various schools and departments on campus, including Isenberg and the College of Engineering.
