Isenberg Student Wins Campus-wide Innovation Challenge Business Competition
April 10, 2014

Rescue Collar, an Isenberg team led by first-year full-time MBA candidate David Waymouth, has won first-place honors in UMass Amherst's annual Innovation Challenge business plan competition. Rescue Collar emerged the winner against four other finalists at a formal presentation and awards dinner on April 7th. At the ceremony, Waymouth received a first-place prize of $25,000 and an invitation to participate with fast-track status in the vaunted MassChallenge business plan competition.

Behind the Scenes at Coca-Cola's Sponsorship Activities at Sochi and Brazil's FIFA World Cup

In a presentation at Isenberg on April 2nd, accounting alumnus Peter Franklin '83 shared a behind-the-scenes look at Coca-Cola's sponsorship activities for the Sochi Winter Olympics and the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Franklin is Coca-Cola's Group Director for Worldwide Sports and Event Management.

Isenberg now ranks 36th in the nation in BusinessWeek's just-released annual Best Undergraduate Business Schools survey. Isenberg's current ranking rose nine places from 45th in 2013 and six places from 20th to 14th among public business schools.

"You must deploy critical skills in the moment," added Madsen, a UMass Amherst alumnus who has been Channel 40's news anchor since 1992.

South Africa Trip Is First for Isenberg Students

This coming May, 18 students and their instructors from the new Isenberg course Ubuntu & Business in South Africa will visit the tip of Africa on a study tour of businesses, historical sites, and cultural venues. It is the first visit by an Isenberg class to South Africa, the continent's leading economy.
