Scholarship Event Celebrates Top Isenberg Students

Isenberg's annual Scholarship Celebration on April 24 at the Log Cabin in Holyoke awarded more than $460,000 in privately funded scholarships and honors to 120 deserving students. The gathering of 300 students, parents, alumni, and faculty heard rousing remarks from Dean Fuller, Associate Undergraduate Dean Linda Shea, and Isenberg's Director of Development, Andrew Clendinneng.

Accounting Banquet Honors Students, Alumni, and Educators
April 25, 2014

Shelly Duncan '92, a partner in Deloitte's Technology, Media & Telecommunications practice, was principal honoree at Isenberg's Annual Accounting Banquet on April 17. Duncan received the department's Accounting Alumni Award, its alumnus of the year honor. Catherine Lowry '96, 01' MBA, a lecturer in the department, was honored with the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants' Outstanding Educator of the Year Award. And 60 students received scholarships and other accolades for academic excellence and community service.

$10 Million Gift Will Create Entrepreneurship Center at Isenberg

McCormack Executive-in-Residence Charts Progress in College Athletics

"When you strip away all the sports glamor, it's about education. That's what drives, me," emphasized Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive in his keynote address on April 16 as the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management's Executive in Residence. In his talk to the campus community, Slive described his role and philosophy as a change agent at the SEC. He also explored current issues in college athletics and his personal history, including his career path.

Alumnus Takes Students behind the Curtain of Accounting Regulation

"Considering the accounting profession's importance to capital markets and investors, you're going to have phenomenal opportunities for career growth," Brian Croteau '94 told accounting students during his campus visit on April 8th. the Isenberg alumnus is Deputy Chief Accountant of at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Professional Practice Group in its Office of the Chief Accountant. He is also the key point person in the SEC's oversight of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, which watches over the audits of public companies.

Isenberg Professor's Book Fosters Idea-Driven Organizations
