Isenberg Celebrates Alumni and Students

In April, Isenberg honored students and alumni in four separate events, including an all-school celebration and gatherings for its departments of accounting, sport management, and hospitality & tourism management.
In April, the department honored Laurie Stroll '83 with its highest alumni accolade, The Stephen E. Elmont Award, at a banquet in Boston befitting Stroll's own high professional standards.

On a raw, rainy day in late April, twenty-five Isenberg student organizers of Supercuts SoccerFest exhibited uncommon leadership and resilience when weather-related challenges threatened their painstakingly planned tournament and festival.
Five 2014 honors graduates who completed the Isenberg Finance capstone course "International Macro-Finance and Financial Crises" have returned from Greece, where they met with the country's prime minister, Antonis Samaras, and other senior-level officials. The students traveled as a group with the course's professor, Nikolaos Artavanis, and a second Isenberg finance professor, Ben Branch.

Two days of festive graduation ceremonies celebrated 1,100 Isenberg seniors and 400 master's and Ph.D. students.
Isenberg's annual Scholarship Celebration on April 24 at the Log Cabin in Holyoke awarded more than $460,000 in privately funded scholarships and honors to 120 deserving students. The gathering of 300 students, parents, alumni, and faculty heard rousing remarks from Dean Fuller, Associate Undergraduate Dean Linda Shea, and Isenberg's Director of Development, Andrew Clendinneng.

Accounting Banquet Honors Students, Alumni, and Educators

Shelly Duncan '92, a partner in Deloitte's Technology, Media & Telecommunications practice, was principal honoree at Isenberg's Annual Accounting Banquet on April 17. Duncan received the department's Accounting Alumni Award, its alumnus of the year honor. Catherine Lowry '96, 01' MBA, a lecturer in the department, was honored with the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants' Outstanding Educator of the Year Award. And 60 students received scholarships and other accolades for academic excellence and community service.
