Culture and Business in South India

An opportunity to explore the impact of culture on business development and management practices in India
Description of the program:
The 3 credits for this Isenberg School of Management course will be awarded in the spring 2010. The course combines readings and lectures with a two-week journey to Southern India to study business and culture in the world's largest democracy and the only predominant Hindu culture on earth. While in India, students will meet with Indian college students, business leaders, tour business facilities and cultural sites, attend lectures, and immerse themselves in the culture of South India.
Duration of the course work: The classroom component of the course consists of weekly seminars that start around the beginning of November 1 and continue through Dec 15 before the trip. Following the trip we will hold between 4-6 lectures between Feb 1 and March 15.
Duration of the overseas trip:
The group will depart from Boston/New York early January and return to Boston/New York on approximately 10-14 days later (dates to be confirmed later).
Location and accommodation:
The group will fly from Boston to Chennai, and then make its way to Madurai, Tirchui and back to Chennai. There will be excursions to Mamallapuram and other smaller cities/cultural sites. We are currently in the process of making travel and lodging arrangements for the trip.
