Chinese Culture and Business: China

Students at the Forbidden CityStudents at the Forbidden CityStudents who are part of this program will first attend a seminar during the spring semester, and then travel to Beijing and Shanghai for two weeks. The seminar will introduce students to the main themes of Chinese culture, the historical context for business in a socialist economy, and the rapid changes that China is encountering with the transition from a command to a market economy. During the two weeks tour in China, students will visit culture and historical sites in several major cities, and visit local businesses and factories to gain insight of the transition of Chinese economy from government owned enterprise to privately held businesses. The tour will also include visits to some spectacular geographical wonders and landscape in China. 

 

2013 Course and Study Tour:

The Chinese Culture and Business course will be offered in the Spring Semester of 2013, with the trip to China tentatively scheduled for May 11 to May 25, 2013. The final dates will depend on the availability of flights and other arrangements.

 

The program fee is estimated to be approximately $3,000 which includes lodging, meals, transportation in China and admission fees for cultural attractions. The program fee doesn't include the airfare to China which may range from $1,200-1,600, and we will negotiate with airlines to obtain the best group rate.
