NSMH: National Society of Minorities in Hospitality, UMass Amherst Chapter
NSMH started in 1989 at Cornell University, and is constantly growing with over 1,000 students across the country at other hospitality schools. We are the premier professional organization and resource center for rising, young hospitality students who have a passion for the hospitality industry and want to better themselves and excel! NSMH stands for friendships, opportunity, and so much more!
We believe in order to be successful in the industry, to embrace and address diversity in the workforce is necessary. Our events and programs include tours of hotels, casinos, and cruise boats, along with volunteering, workshops, and guest speakers. Our two main events are Regional Conference, which is in Atlantic City, NJ this October 2012, and National Conference, which is in Orlando, Florida, February 2013.
