Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS)
The goal of the UMASS Amherst Student Chapter of INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences) is to encourage interest in the field of operations research and the management sciences and to provide a means of communication between people having interest in the management sciences and operations research. Members of the chapter are undergraduate and graduate students from various schools and departments including: the Isenberg School of Management, the School of Engineering, the Department of Resource Economics, and the Department of Mathematics. The first major activity of the student chapter is a speaker series. Among other activities that are planned for the coming year are field trips, student presentations of research, as well as social activities. Undergrads and graduate students from other departments who are interested in OR/MS are welcome to attend and join in future meetings and activities. This chapter is truly interdisciplinary!
