Isenberg students in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree program may declare one of the School's five majors when they reach their first semester of sophomore year*. Upon declaring a major, students will be assigned a faculty advisor within their respective academic department.
*First-year students will be eligible to declare their major second semester freshman year beginning Spring 2014.
Fall 2013 - Major declaration begins Monday, September 23. The deadline to declare is Friday, October 4.
Spring 2014 - Major declaration begins Monday, February 10. The deadline to declare is Friday, February 28.
Declaring a Major
If you are uncertain of which major to declare, please utilize the many resources available to you as an Isenberg student. One helpful resource is the Isenberg Industry Insights tool available through the Chase Career Center. You can also schedule an appointment with a Chase advisor.
Students may also find it beneficial to contact the department and request to speak with a faculty advisor.
Ideally, it is best to declare a major by first semester junior year. Students without a declared major may find it difficult to register for upper level courses in the School. Students will not be able to graduate without a declared major.
Mandatory Major Night
Students who declare their major during the Spring 2014 declaration process, will need to attend a mandatory major meeting.
Operations & Information Management:
If you declare, you will have a Fall 2014 ADVISING HOLD placed on your SPIRE account preventing you from registering for classes. The HOLD will be lifted after you attend the mandatory major departmental meeting.
If you are on international exchange or an internship/co-op and thus unable to attend the mandatory major meeting you are asked to contact the Isenberg Undergraduate Programs Office at email@example.com before March 27. The hold will be lifted from your SPIRE account and you will be able to register for Fall 2014 classes. Upon your return to campus, you will need to check in with your major department as soon as possible.
