Welcome to the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management
As one of the leading graduate sport management programs housed in a school of management, our annual mission is simple: to accept an elite and diverse group of individuals we believe are future leaders in the sport industry ... and then provide the unparalleled educational experience to make it happen.
As our e-brochure illustrates, experiential-based learning and professional development are among the hallmarks of our program. A plethora of "real world" learning projects, our Executive-In-Residence program, and a steady stream of guest speakers provide our students with unprecedented access to industry practitioners. Our innovative Graduate Mentor Program (strategically aligning every graduate student with an industry executive), Professional Development seminar and frequent networking trips put our students in a position to succeed upon graduating. And each Graduate student has access to our database of over 1,500 alumni working in every segment of the sport industry.
Our rigorous curriculum - taught by one of the largest full-time faculties in the country - is specifically designed to blend theory with practice. Our faculty has over 100 years of industry and consulting experience. The diversity of our student population leads to a dynamic educational environment - our current class includes students from 12 states, in addition to Mexico, Iran, China, Taiwan, India, Brazil and Canada. Our commitment to diversity is also found in the array of career interests. Having students pursuing careers in a wide range of industry segments not only adds to the classroom dynamic, but also begins to build each students' long-term network. As we've observed, students typically move between industry segments throughout their careers.
You will find that our faculty is fully committed to ensuring the success of each of our students. Our Director of Internships has helped our students find great success in securing jobs in their chosen field. (Our most recent class of graduates has secured full-time employment with sport organizations including: MLB Players Association, PGA Tour, Harvard University, New England Patriots, FC Seattle Reign, Baltimore Orioles, Octagon, Minnesota Twins, Rugged Maniac Races, Norwich University and Pomona University.
We welcome your consideration of our program, and invite you to reach out to us with any questions! Best of luck in your search for the right Sport Management graduate program for you!
