Stephen Jefferson

Undergraduate Program Director

Biography

Mr. Jefferson advises all undergraduate Sport Management majors and teaches Advanced Sport Sociology at the undergraduate level. He serves as the Chair of the Undergraduate Admissions Committee, is a member of the Curriculum Committee and serves as a faculty advisor to the student club, Association of Sport Management Professionals of Color.

Professor Jefferson's focus is Violence in Sports and the History of Minorities in Sport. He appeared on the Oprah Winfry Show in 1996 as a member of a panel and discussed domestic violence and violence in sports. He has written numerous articles on violence in sport for the Voice Male Journal.

Professor Jefferson currently serves as the chair of the Minority Over Representation Committee in the Governor's Juvenile Justice Advisory Council, and is an adjunct professor at Springfield College.
