Register

All registrations and drops must be done before the Add/Drop period ends.

RECOMMENDED for IMMEDIATE enrollment confirmation use SPIRE to self-enroll

  • SPRING & FALL SEMESTERS:

You will be assigned an enrollment appointment starting on the first day of CPE registration

NEW- STARTING SPRING 2013enrollment appointments will be based on your completed credit amount.

As an example the enrollment appointments for spring 2013  are:

Seniors (87+ credits)               11/15/12, 7:00 p.m. EST

Juniors (57-86 credits)              11/18/12, 9:00 a.m. EST

Sophomores (27-56 credits)         11/21/12, 9:00 a.m. EST

This is a real time registration system.

Course costs are listed in the "Restrictions/Notes" section of "Class Details" in SPIRE. 

  • SUMMER & WINTER SESSIONS:

You must request an enrollment appointment

On the left-panel menu in your SPIRE Student Center, go to Enrollment then CPE Enroll Appointment.

 

CPE: Not recommended but You may on occasion need to register this way.

  • SPRING, SUMMER, FALL & WINTER registering through Continuing & Professional Education is a REQUEST to be enrolled processed during normal business hours usually within 3 business days.
  • Web: www.umassulearn.net/classes- Online classes view offerings and click on the 'Enroll Now' link in the class listing.  Please note: web registration ends the day BEFORE the Add/Drop period ends.

Drop or withdraw

Drop and withdrawal dates are available from the University academic calendar. 

  • Drops through the add/drop date, with class fee refund.
  • Withdrawals  After the add/drop period, you may withdraw from a class through the Withdrawal period/semester mid-point, no refund. A class dropped during this period will be recorded on the student's transcript as a 'W'.

SPIRE:  RECOMMENDED for IMMEDIATE drop confirmation use SPIRE to drop. 

CPE: Not recommended but you may on occasion need to drop this way. 

 

Late Withdrawal After the mid-semester date, you are responsible for completion of the class unless your Undergraduate Academic Dean grants a late withdrawal for extenuating circumstances. To request a late withdrawal see Common_Formslink. 

Use the Withdrawal Request Form and Instructor Verification Form available online at www.umassulearn.net/registration-info/drop-withdraw-class

The completed forms should be submitted to the Continuing and Professional Education Records and Registration Office

 


Payment 


Charges will be posted to your SPIRE account and will be billed to you by the Bursar's Office via your UMail account. 

You may also use 3rd party billing on the web; just be sure that your authorization to bill has been sent to the Bursar's Office (215 Whitmore, UMass Amherst) BEFORE you register. You are responsible for any charges not paid by the 3rd party. UMass Amherst Continuing Education for more information.
