By the end of 2012--in just three years--the European Union's periphery nations--Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain--as an aggregate had restored their current account balances to mid-1990 levels, observed Lucio Vinhas de Souza, Sovereign Chief Economist of Moody's Investor Services. Two Isenberg alumni with extensive senior executive experience captivated hundreds of students with career and business insights in the Dean's professional development seminar for first-year Isenberg students. David Fubini '76 (Marketing), Director with McKinsey & Company, and David O'Leary '81 MBA, former Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer with State Street Corporation, gave students their take on networking, interviewing, teamwork, mentorships, and "hard" versus "soft" business skills. Isenberg Career Day on October 3rd (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) will attract 1,200 students and 80 employers to the Campus Center Auditorium. "The diverse scope of recruiting companies will ensure opportunities for students in all of our seven majors," notes Melissa Salva, Director of Recruiting Operations at Isenberg's Chase Career Center. The Minutemen Equity Fund (MEF), a portfolio managed principally by Isenberg students, has outperformed rival student-managed funds on the UMass Boston, Dartmouth, and Lowell campuses. During the fiscal year spanning June 2012-May 2013, the MEF returned 15.62% on its portfolio, narrowly topping its closest rival, UMass Lowell. More (September 18, 2013)
