The Isenberg Experience
While deployed to Kuwait, I have found the MBA Program to be very flexible in accommodating my hectic schedule, especially when I am 7 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. There is no need to log in at a specific day or time, which makes it very convenient. Professors are very helpful and provide professional discussions and assistance via threaded discussions on the course website, or through email. During my deployment to the Middle East, I have been able to take courses to further both my military and civilian career.

After about 20 years of training and practice since medical school graduation, I decided that I needed to pursue a graduate degree in business administration. Before I was formally matriculated in the Part-Time MBA program, I actually completed my first online course while in a remote area outside of Kabul, Afghanistan. I have found the curriculum to be very challenging, but also very rewarding and practical for professionals of all types. The student support services personnel are very helpful in planning and juggling the education schedule. During my online education, I have since deployed a second time for a shorter period to Iraq, and have completed two-week annual training each summer - in Fort Polk, Jordan, and most recently Peru. The professors were incredibly generous with their time and expertise and uniformly made special accommodations for my unique requests for early or late submissions, often caused by power outages in Baghdad or firefights in Kabul.

I think the UMass Amherst Online MBA program is one of the best around. It has certainly exceeded my expectations. After talking with an Advisor and researching the program it is the only one I wanted to attend. I have taken Professor Shmerling's class, and the Foundations of Business prerequisite course and they all were better than anticipated.
