Bio

Aixin (James) Ma is a PhD student in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance at the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

His research interest is in the expansion of the domain of socially responsible financial studies. Specifically, he is interested in the study and development of theories and techniques measuring, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the impact of insider information, insider trading, exuberant executive incentives and other sensitive issues on the value of public investments.

He is also interested in innovative teaching which stresses the importance of transferring knowledge to students in intuitive ways.

Aixin received his Bachelor of Law degree from the Political Science Department at Beijing University, China and his Master of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans with a concentration in Political Science. Aixin also attended the Yale School of Management from 1997 to 1998 where he received Frederick T. Holliday & Frederick T. Holliday Jr. Memorial Scholarship.

Before returning to school to pursue his PhD degree, Aixin worked in various business and financial sectors. He was a licensed International Trade Negotiator in China and won a grand prize in Provincial International Trade Knowledge Competition in 1992. He also worked as an equity trader on Wall Street from 1998 to 2002 and passed NASD’s Series 7, Series 55 and Series 24 exams.
