Emily Porschitz, a Ph.D. Candidate in the Organization Studies program, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from Vassar College. She spent several years working in human resources in New York City before moving to New Hampshire to work in sales and marketing and earn her MBA from Plymouth State University. Her doctoral research focuses on how corporate and professional careers are shaped during the transition from university to full-time work. Her dissertation uses qualitative methods to uncover the ways in which contemporary understandings of career connect the personal goals of individuals to work organizations, local lifestyles, regional growth initiatives and the global economic arena. Emily has a paper published in the International Journal of Leadership Studies (2007), and has presented papers at several conferences including annual meetings of the National Academy of Management (2006, 2007) and the annual meeting of Northeast Decision Science Institute (2007).
