Message to Parents
Dear Parents and Families:
Welcome to the Isenberg School of Management Chase Career Center! Our staff has developed this website to help you help your student. The resources found in this website are designed to introduce you to the Chase Career Center staff and outline what we do on a daily basis to support your student in learning about careers, and finding internships and full time jobs. We know that you play a vital role in the decisions your child will make and we hope you find this material helpful. We also know that in some cases, generational differences around career development and the process of finding good internships and jobs can create potential tension in your relationship with your student.
This website was created to assist you in this process based on our understanding of the important role you play as a parent or guardian. Please utilize these resources and become familiar with how you can support your student in career development and finding terrific internship, externship (short-term, unpaid) or full time opportunities! Career development is a step by step process and many of the activities we encourage students to engage in mirror those of the college experience in general. In an effort to help you help your student through the career development process, we have devised both a Year by Year Guide for Students and a Year by Year Guide for Parents. As we know that each student has different interests, passions and career directions, these recommendations may be tailored to fit your student’s individual situations. Many of the suggestions for parents can directly impact the progress a student makes in learning about careers and finding good opportunities.
The links on this page will orient you to the services provided by the Chase Career Center, events/activities and the Isenberg Chase Career Center Career Alert, a monthly newsletter for parents and families written by our professional staff and our Chase Career Associate students. Additionally, please utilize the link to the UMass Parents program where you can find general information about your student’s experience at the University of Massachusetts.
We hope you will take advantage of these resources. Please feel free to contact us at amya@som.umass.edu.
Thank you for your interest!
