ExCEL Criteria for Employers
2009-2010 Employer Schedule
ExCEL = Exploring Careers through Experiential Learning
Early Talent Identification = HIRING SUCCESS!
The Chase Career Center is inaugurating ExCEL, an early identification program designed to provide your recruiting team and hiring managers a chance to engage with Isenberg School of Management students before their junior year. ExCEL offers companies an opportunity to establish relationships with first and second year students and identify potential interns and future full time talent early.
Q: Why should my company participate?
A: ExCEL has been designed to match first and second year students with companies based on student interest in specific industries and career paths. ExCEL staff work with students to identify career interests and ensure preparation for job shadow, mentoring or externship experiences in employer settings. Isenberg's ExCEL
Program offers participating companies the following benefits:
• Early Identification of top talent...a competitive edge
• Opportunities to showcase your company and brand your company on campus
• Access to students matched by ExCEL staff for participation in company job shadow or externship programs
Q: What is required of employers?
A: ExCEL employers are asked to provide, at a minimum, an on-site experience that will introduce students to the organization.
ExCEL experiences may include:
• Structured Externships consisting of info sessions, group activities, and case work
• 1 day (or longer) Job Shadow or Mentoring experiences
• 1 Day visits to company site for selected target group of students
ExCEL employers will be invited to sign up to participate in presentations for ExCEL students at the Isenberg School of Management on topics including Career Research Skills, Resume Writing, Practice Interviews, Industry Panels, Networking for Professional Success, Communication in the Corporate Environment and Etiquette Dinners. Additionally, all participating employers will be invited to participate on the ExCEL Advisory Committee.
Q: Who are ExCEL students and how are they selected?
A: ExCEL students are first and second year Isenberg students selected during the fall semester though an application process. Selection criteria will be based on a written essay outlining career interests and the potential to match students with participating companies for an ExCEL experience.
