Junior Year Writing in the Isenberg School
Junior Year Writing (JYW) courses in the Isenberg School go beyond the basic University requirements to include:
- Interactive approaches that focus on developing leadership and management communication ability, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Exercises that promote practice in argument, persuasion, communication strategy, and page design
- Engagement in key writing processes, including giving feedback, working with peers, revising, self-editing, and proofreading
- Support to help you improve grammar and style: face-to-face conferences, Communication Center consulting, and other business communication resources
- Reading, writing, and discussion on issues and trends in business
- Professional and career writing assignments aimed at helping you develop the kinds of writing-thinking skills that are required in business disciplines and professional work environments
- Research writing focusing on information analysis, citing and listing information sources, and documenting sources
- Public speaking support and practice in the form of group or individual presentations
