Leading Behavioral Accounting Scholar to Speak at Isenberg

Mark Peecher, Professor of Accountancy and Deloitte & Touche Teaching Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will discuss his paper, Auditor Tacit Knowledge and Audit Firm Capital Development, at the Isenberg School of Management in room 106 on September 14 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Professor Peecher is the semester's first speaker in the Accounting Workshop Series, sponsored by Isenberg's Department of Accounting & Information Systems.

Professor Peecher's paper examines whether tacit knowledge possessed by inexperienced auditors is consistently valued by audit firms. Tacit knowledge has been defined as the relatively unarticulated and experiential know-how that people use to manage themselves, others, and their careers.

A leading, widely published researcher in behavioral and psychological accounting, Professor Peecher is an editor of the journal, Accounting, Organizations & Society. He is on the editorial boards of Contemporary Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and other leading journals. His Ph.D., M.A.S., and B.S. degrees in accounting are all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
