James A. (Jim) Hollister ’59 from Cranberry Township, PA retired in 1992 as VP of US Steel Credit Corporation. He often visits Massachusetts friends in Springfield with his wife and three daughters. He enjoys living in Greater Pittsburgh, which offers big city amenities and small town friendliness.

J. Lincoln Hirst II ’66 is owner and financial advisor representative with Lincoln Hirst II, CPA and Money Concepts Financial Planning Centre in Greenfield, where he has been a CPA in public practice since 1973. He has been married for almost 33 years to Frances “Cookie” Hirst. Their daughter, Veronica “Neca” Hirst, is an elementary school teacher in Salem and their son, Paul Michael, is a senior Sport Management major at the Isenberg School.

Ken MacIver ’66 of Winchester is Executive Director of Merrimack Valley Legal Services, with offices in Lowell and Lawrence. Merrimack represents low income people in civil cases without charge, promoting equal access to justice for its clients. A Boston University Law School graduate, Ken has also been director of the Northeast Regional Training Center at Massachusetts Law Reform Institute (1980-88), a Harvard Law School clinical instructor, a partner in the Boston firm, Elder & MacIver, and a consultant to many nonprofit organizations. His wife, Attorney Jinanne Elder, practices in Boston and specializes in family law. Ken’s email address is kmaciver@mvlegal.org .

Louise (Molander) Deraney ’71 of Norwood is Manager of Disbursements with Ropes & Gray LLP.

Norman “Bud” Robertson ’72 of Groton is Senior VP Finance and Administration and CFO with Progress Software Corporation.

Edward W. Sacco ’72 of Salem is Executive Director with Nexus, Inc.

Mark F. Shea, CLU, RPA ’78 of Longmeadow is president and owner of Pension & Benefits Associates, Inc. in Springfield. The company currently handles over 100 corporate clients in such fields as executive compensation, actuarial work, pension administration, ERISA compliance, institutional/retirement plan investments and health and welfare plans such as medical, dental and disability programs. Mark and his wife, Heidi (Scholten) Shea ’77, have two daughters in college (Syracuse University and The College of William & Mary) and one son in high school in Longmeadow.

Mark E. Toso, CPA, ’72 MSBA ’74 of Wenham is president of TriNet Healthcare Consultants, Inc. Mark, who has thirty years of experience in public accounting and the health care industry, attributes a large part of his success to UMass Amherst: “The education I received prepared me to deal with complex financial, marketing and management issues at the highest levels and as a result I have been very successful in my chosen field. I have been on the board of directors of five organizations, one of which had an initial public offering in 1983 and one that I started in 1988. I am very proud to be an alumnus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.”

Stan Wyzansky ’72 is general manager of Gold’s Gym in Tewksbury.

Gary S. Lurie ’73 is Client Director with IBM. He lives in Mechanicsburg, PA with his wife, Sherry, daughter, Emily (17), and son, Peter (14 1/2).

James L. “Jim” Hennessey ’74 of Lynn is Executive General Adjuster with Hanover Insurance Co.

Timothy Barabe ’75 lives in Vienna, Austria, where he is a finance officer with Sandoz Generics (subsidiary of Novartis AG). After earning an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1977, he embarked on a career in finance that included five years with Olin Corporation, and 22 years (in 6 locations in three countries) with Novartis AG (formerly Ciba-Geigy AG). Timothy, whose two children are in college, remarried in 2001 to Gail Kennedy. He climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2002, then moved to Austria in early 2003 with Novartis. He plans in the near future to move either to the US or UK, where he will take over as CFO of a private company. Classmates can contact him at timandgail@hotmail.com

Richard Flynn ’75 lives in Sudbury and is VP Marketing and Sales with RAILINC.

Forrest “Ed” Smith ’76, who lives in Beavercrook, OH, is Associate Professor, Directorate, Management Studies with Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management. He retired from the USAF in February 2000 after serving continuously for 37 1/2 years and now teaches logistics-related subjects to the U.S. Government, U.S. industry and the international community.

Joanne C. Delatola ’77 of Pelham Manor, NY is a teacher with the Department of Education.

Michael Flashner ’78 lives in Orange, CA and is Sr. VP and Loan Servicing Director with Bay View Capital Corporation.

Dwight Foster ’78 lives in Arlington, VA, where he is Chief, Highway Accident Investigations Division with the National Transportation Safety Board. Dwight has worked for the Board since graduation and lives with his wife Carol (Maurice) ’79 and four children. He drives a 1971 VW Bug, and plays rugby (whenever his wife will let him).

Paul G. Smith ’78 of Goffstown, NH is CEO of Benefit Strategies, LLC.

William R. Coke ’79 is Managing Director/Principal with Bear Stearns Inc. He is married with two boys, ages 9 and 7. Bill is active with many local and national charitable organizations and serves on the Board of Trustees at Lawrence Academy in Groton.

Tom Milbury ’79 of Peabody is a partner with Deloitte. After UMass, he received an MBA from Babson College and began a career in public accounting with Andersen, where he spent the next 21 years serving clients in the manufacturing, energy and commercial services industries. Following Andersen's collapse, he joined Deloitte. Tom married a UMass Social Thought and Political Economy major (Robyn Glazer ’79). They have 2 boys, Max (15) and Sam (10).

Jeffrey Roy ’79 is Finance Director with The Wella Corporation, a division of P&G in California.
