Junior - Senior Requirements

For students majoring in AIS, the program beyond the core course area requires one business law course, two courses in financial reporting, and at least four other Accounting courses (at least two of which must be from three specifically indicated areas.) The minimum number of Accounting courses required for a major are eight (or twenty-four credit hours).

The 24-hour Accounting Credit Requirement CANNOT be satisfied by either of the following:

  • Practicum and Internship Credits (398)
    OR
  • Independent Study Credits (396 and 496) earned for such activities as paper grading and lab proctoring.

Non-Business Electives
-- minimum 12 hours in the Junior-Senior Year. The General Education Requirements cannot be substituted for the junior-senior year Non-Business electives.

Pass-Fail Courses Students are permitted to take one elective course per semester on a pass-fail basis. AIS majors are not permitted to take any of the Accounting or SCH-MGMT courses on a pass-fail basis except for Internship and Practicum, which are mandatory pass-fail courses.. In selecting courses to take on a pass-fail basis, students should consult with their advisor.

A cumulative average of at least a C (2.0) is required in the major. Courses included in computing the cumulative average are ACCOUNTG 221, ACCOUNTG 222 and the required courses for the AIS major listed above.

An AIS major must complete at least 120 credit hours to graduate, and satisfy all other University and SCH-MGMT graduation requirements. It is your responsibility to ensure that you fulfill all necessary graduation requirements. Periodic degree audit reports will be provided to you by the Registrar's Office, and you should meet and discuss these reports on a regular basis with your Department Advisor.
