Biography:
Professor Sorcinelli is responsible for teaching courses about information technology, and managing the computer resources within Isenberg School of Management.
Prior to his arrival at School of Management, Professor Sorcinelli spent 6 years in the private sector working for a large multi-line insurance company. He led a team of Human Resource professionals during a period of time when the company initiated an enterprise-wide reengineering effort, reduced employee FTE by 35%, and merged with another financial services company.
With the support of a development grant from the Commonwealth Information Technology Initiative (CITI), he redesigned the course (SOM 210 Introduction to Business Information Systems) that he teaches to Isenberg School of Management undergraduates. This redesign effort focused on building an Academic Information Portal (AIP) where students, working in teams, conduct Web-based research assignments on business performance, and "publish" the results of their research to the Portal site. Most recently, he was awarded a TEACHnology fellowship, which provides the support to assess student learning in the Portal environment.
His research interests include: a) knowledge management: b) using strategic information in decision making: and c) implementation of Portal technology in a wireless environment.
